As a Filipino, I can proudly say that we are very able to adapt to different cultures with ease. We can initiate conversations and can communicate with all means which helps us to get to know people in an instant. And it’s because of these traits also that we tend to wander and go to different places for varying reasons.

Greater Opportunity Prospect

They see other countries as a place for their big dreams. Filipino’s are very focused and tend to stick to their goal. If one considers to live a better life, abroad is pretty much where they can find the answer for most since it has plenty of opportunity for them.

Economic Circumstances

One of the reason why Filipinos go abroad is because the lack of support from the government. Not being able to receive basic service is one of the reasons why they tend to push working for another country.

Discrimination

This is evident in almost any of the work place there is. Filipinos can withstand this but, the main reason why I’ve stated this is because this can get brutally harsh in a Philippine setting because the non privileged people is the common target of this, compared to other countries, which they can handle much pressure as they can provide for their own.

Exponential Increase in Income

Aside from the value of peso decreasing, the mere hard work of other “Pinoy” isn’t recognized. Some companies hold back when giving increase even to deserving workers. That is why most of OFWs resort to going abroad.

Job Status

As it states, most of the companies in the Philippines offer a contractual type of work. This may work for freelancing work but for most of them who are looking for a job for a long run wouldn’t agree. The government already amended a bill about ending contractual work but haven’t been implemented still. Filipinos try to further their work abroad because of the longevity in office.

Familial Responsibility and Peer

Philippines is a third world country, and it is given that most of the people thriving are in need to provide for themselves and for their family. Having an extended family is very common in the Philippines. To be able to contribute as a part of a family is one of the pressure we face day to day. In order to be a good provider, they see themselves working abroad to maximize their goal and achieve what is best for their family.

These are the common ones there is. A lot more is present but heavily fall on personal kinds. Filipinos are naturally a provider and will do almost anything just to make their loved ones proud.

Being an OFW is commendable. It requires bravery and a massive hard work. One must also possess a great amount of patience since they’ll be away for too long.
